Answers

  1. What does My Wishlist mean?
When you add an item to your wishlist, it allows you to quickly go back to that item at a later time.
Note: Adding the item to your wishlist does not constitute as an order and cannot hold any inventory for you. Please send us an email if you have any questions regarding product availability.

  2. How does a "Pre-Order" work?
Pre-ordering applies to items that have not yet been made and are available to order in advance for a deposit. Some items require a deposit of part or all of the price, which is charged at the time of order. The remainder, together with the shipping cost, is then charged when the item ships. We do our best to estimate the date when an item's production will be completed, but delays do occur. If you need to cancel a pre-order at any time before it ships, please contact us.

Please note: In-stock items and pre-order items cannot be included in the same order. If you place an order for in-stock items within the same order as pre-ordered items, two separate orders will be created - one to ship now, and one to ship when the pre-order item is in stock. Both orders will have associated shipping fees.

  3. I've changed my shipping address since placing my preorder. Does updating my address in My Account update the preorder's shipping address as well?
No, it does not. The pre-order shipping address is tied in with the address that was specified when the order was placed. Please call us at 1-800-253-3332 or send us an email to update this information on your behalf before the pre-order is ready to ship to guarantee that it will be sent to the correct location.

  4. What is a blem tool?
Only a slight cosmetic difference turns an otherwise perfect tool into a blem. Our blem tools are functionally identical to their non-blem counterparts.Unfortunately, we do not know what the blem is on each tool. Usually it is a scratch in the metal or wood or a slight discoloration. It never affects the functionality of the tool.

  5. What does "In Production" versus "In Stock" mean?
"In Production" indicates that the tool is currently being manufactured and will be available soon. We are unable to take orders for items that are In Production, since the pre-order window has already closed, and can only add you to a waitlist if there are any extras available. An item that is "In Stock" can be added to your cart and will ship out now.

  6. Why doesn't My Account show any of my purchases from before 2008?
It would be great if we could add your past history (earlier than 2008) to our current website. Due to the difference in ordering systems, it was unfortunately not possible to keep the information from the former system.

  7. Can I get my tools engraved?
Unfortunately, we do not offer engraving. A good option for having a tool engraved once you've received it is to take it to your local jeweler's.

  8. What is a Commemorative Tool?
Each year, we design a special new tool which we produce just a single run of, available exclusively to our Founder's Circle members. Our yearly Commemorative Tool introduction is an eagerly anticipated event by both tool collectors and admirers of beautiful craftsmanship. A particular year's Commemorative Tool may be released at any time during that year, depending on our busy production schedule.

  9. What is the Founder's Circle?
The Founder's Circle is a collective of woodworkers who enjoy receiving a 10% discount on almost everything they purchase from Bridge City prior to August 2018. Commemorative Tools were available exclusively to Founder's Circle members and the program ended in August 2018.

  10. How do I clean my tools?
All tools needs periodic care and cleaning. If it’s standard brass tarnish, then any brass polish with work. Metal polish like Flitz or maas will not hurt the juara or rose wood. But should there be any green discoloration, we would recommend removing it with Sandflex then regularly wax the tool. When staining occurs badly, we use Klingspor's Sandflex pad, usually the fine, but also the medium. This will not scratch the wood or metal . 220 and 320 grit sandpaper can work even fast, you just have to be more careful about grain direction. After this, you could also run ‘0000’ Steel wool across the same areas. Rub the wood and metal with the grain of the material. Then finish the tool by applying a fine paste wax like Liberon. Periodically re-applying the wax will help with the longevity of the finish and provide some protection in the future. We also carry a few products to help keep the shine in your tools.

  11. Are the discontinued tools available for sale?
Items that are noted as Discontinued are out of production and not available for sale. They are listed and shown on our site for reference purposes. Archived items (with the exception of Commemorative Tools) may return to production in the future. If a "Notify me when this item is back in stock" button is visible, you may add your name to our notification list. If any estimated production date is known, it will be listed. If the "Notify me" button is not visible, it is unlikely this item will be produced again in the future.
