Dado soles: Drawer sides

Has anyone made the slots in your drawer side to fit the drawer bottom into using the 1/4" Dado kit on the HP6v2?

drawer dadoes

I have used it for a couple projects that required 1/4 inch dadoes. It worked quite well although I've occasionally had trouble with the fence moving because the tightening knobs became loose.

dadoing with HP-6

Postby Dennis » Sun May 10, 2009 6:21 am

There are several tools in my shop which can deliver a 1/4" dado, including Stanley planes, etc. I have been using my HP-6 with the 1/4" dado blade quite a bit lately. I love it. It has the advantage of scoring cutters, depth stop, and fence built into the plane which makes using it a very quick and functional solution.

I set the cut fairly aggressive and go for it. Try it, you will love the feel of it.
