Same hone for all dado soles?

Postby bubbamatix@megapop.com » Fri Sep 16, 2011 11:34 am

Anybody have any insight as to whether the new 3/8 and 1/2 dado soles will use the same hone, which, in turn could also be used on the current 1/4 dado nicker? Seems to make sense that they would all be at the same angle, making it unnecessary to get a 1/4 hone. Also, does anyone have any experience using the depth guides for the HP-6v2--worthwhile or not? It seems like you could (double)tape shims to the sole for the dados to limit the depth of cut, as Mr. Econo makes reference to in his recent posting. Thanks in advance for any comment.

Yes, the same Dado scoring cutter hone will work with the 3/8 and 1/2" Dado profiles.

I personally find that attaching shims to the soles to be the best way to modify the depth of the dado profiles.
