DJ-1 Index Jig

Postby Rutager » Sun Jul 03, 2011 6:01 am

This jig has been "floating" around my brain for a while, but I decided to wait for the Universal Jaw set, because I wanted to make sure it was compatible. The idea behind this jig is to be able to set repetable stops for doing multiples. I built it using "t" track with a ruler, flip stops, 1/2" baltic birch ply, 3/4" baltic birch ply and common hardware. I would also like to come up with a movable stop that would index off of the previous hole to set the next hole. Please let me know if you have any ideas for making one or if you are aware of a commercially available one.

Back side of jig; these bars allow the jig to adjust to different widths, I attached them using machine screws with washers and nylock nuts so they could swivel without falling apart. Thickness of the workpiece is adjusted at the Universal Jaws:

If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.

What is the largest size dowel that can be used in the DJ-1 Jig and can I drill a hole down the center the entire length of the dowel? (of course I understand there are limitations with my drill press)
