High quality stainless steel is not magnetic. I believe the adjuster mechanisms are stainless. As for the aluminum, I have all the different versions of the HP-6 and feel that they all work fantastic.

Common "folklore" is that a heavy plane works better; after using the HP-10 which feels like it weighs nothing, I was blown away by how well it cut my rabbit.

I think that a plane's light weight would be very welcome during an extended period of cutting molding.

If the plane makes quality cuts, does the material really matter that much?
