With a maximum cutting depth of 1-1/2", a blade length of approximately eight inches and an overall length of 21", our 32 teeth per inch Dozuki is an extremely fine tooth back saw used primarily for cutting joints. The blade is an astonishing 0.20mm thick which is only eight thousandths of an inch! Once cut, the wood feels and appears like it was hand planed. We guarantee you have not used a saw that works or cuts as well as this professional Dozuki back saw.
I didn't think a hand saw could produce such a clean cut.
Leaving aside the whole issue of cutting perfectly square to the edge and perpendicular to the face of the board; If I use care in executing my saw strokes well, I can pretty much count on not needing to even touch the end of the board with a plane to remove tooth marks as they don't exist. No hand saw that I have ever used can touch it.
IMO- the only question is whether or not you want to purchase & use the Western-style push-cut saw or the Japanese pull-style, but you just can't compare their respective out-of-the-box quality of cut … in particular at this price point! (Posted on 12/24/11)
