Go Back The Furniture of Sam Maloof

The Furniture of Sam Maloof

By Jeremy Adamson  (Soft cover, 269 pages)

This book is beautifully illustrated and will entertain as you venture into the life of this living legend, Sam Maloof. Awe-inspiring with his timeless designs and humble beginnings as a craftsman, the book is also a fascinating chronicle of his life.

I especially enjoyed Chapter One: Background “…when Anisse (his
mother) missed a kitchen knife or a pair of shears, she invariably found him (Sam) using them as tools with which to carve or fashion a wide variety of childhood toys—swords, guns, and wheeled vehicles. Many were unusually intricate for a child craftsman: the cylinder of a wooden pistol actually rotated, and the front axle of a truck was attached to handmade metal springs…other children often brought broken toys to him to be fixed: he had an unusual ability to make them right again.”

A must-read!
