JH-1S Brass Hammer

When it comes to hammers, invariably we use a tool much too large or heavy for the task. Think about it. Hammers come in almost every imaginable size and shape. We have created two small hammers designed specifically for the bench woodworker. For inserting dowels, pins, or tapping delicate joints together, a dead-blow mallet is just way too big. A small hammer prevents you from overpowering your intent, eliminating over-sized and unintentional strike marks.

Our JH-1 JOINTMAKER'S HAMMERS come in brass or a stainless steel head. They are double faced for delicate work and are securely blind wedged to the hickory handle. The head measures 9/16" and 13/16" in diameter and weighs 3-1/2 ounces. Use the brass hammer with its soft face for those applications where you definitely do not want to leave a strike mark (never use a soft face hammer for nails or brads). For those applications where you may want to persuade a harder material, we recommend the JH-1 JOINTMAKER'S HAMMER with a stainless steel head.
